With twenty years' experience as a fiction editor for various major London publishers, as well as four novels published by Picador and a non-fiction memoir, Charlotte is uniquely well-qualified to give one-to-one help to authors at every stage of writing a novel, from discussing possible themes to in-depth structural editing, from regular morale-boosting meetings to giving advice about agents and publication.  She has worked with debut writers, well-known journalists and famous novelists, with a completely personalised programme wholly based on the tutee's requirements.

Charlotte has a waiting-list but soon may be able to consider a new mentee; please contact her via this website for more information.

In addition to Charlotte's enormous experience in publishing, she is a well-regarded teacher of creative writing at all levels.  She has taught six-month Guardian/UEA creative writing courses and numerous one-day fiction masterclasses, and has also taught Advanced Fiction for the Arvon Foundation, given fiction writing workshops at the Faber Academy and conducted numerous workshops and masterclasses on how to write, how to self-edit and, occasionally, how to get published at a huge range of schools and literary festivals.  She is a Visiting Professor at Royal Holloway, University of London, on the Creative Writing MA course.

Her latest course, three months at Curtis Brown Creative, begins in November 2017: to apply, see
